Adaptive Yoga for individuals with limited mobility began in 2007 with funding provided by the Marquette Neighborhood Association, and was again awarded funds in 2008. Private community contributions allow for purchase of needed supplies and equipment to support participants. Since classes began in July of 2007, a core class has developed, serving a diverse group of people in the community. Kristin and community volunteers support students attending classes who have limited mobility due to multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophry, stroke, brain injury, cerebral palsy, congenital birth disorders, and aging; but participation is open to all people in the Dane County community.

Kristin Sage

"Kristin is thoughtful and respectful of all participants in class. She problem solves to maximize the benefit of each exercise for each participant, and adjusts the class to make it appropriate for those in attendance. I have taken and enjoyed yoga before, but hadn't, until finding this class, found a class that fits my needs so well." --Dee

"The Adaptive Yoga class taught by Kristin Sage is a great service to the community. Ms. Sage is an excellent teacher. She is very creative in how she tailors the yoga practice to the needs and abilities of her students. I am a student in this class myself and feel that it is one of the best things to happen to me since I had a stroke which left me hemiplegic eight years ago. Going to Ms. Sage's class makes me feel as though my life is back on track after a train wreck." --Michael
